ProcedureIf the sound file is in aiff, au or mov, use Switch to convert to mp3 first.Then, open Video Converter for Mac and drag the sound file to it. Trim it to about 50 sec to 1 min. Set the start and end points anywhere you wish. Encode it as m4a. Note that an unregistered version of Video Converter for Mac would only produce m4a file of half the length of the trimmed length. But this is okay. Just trim it a bit longer and you never need a long ringtone anyway. Finally, open MakeiPhoneRingtone and drag-and-drop the m4a file to the the MakeiPhoneRingtone window. The ringtone file will be there next time you open your iTune. All you need is to sync your iPhone now.
