City uses new technology to clean beach The City of Plattsburgh Recreation Department has purchased a Barber Surf Rake, to help improve the quality of the Municipal Beach. “I think community members are under the impression that the beach is dirty with debris,” said superintendent of recreation, Steve Peters. “We wanted to do something to not only manicure the beach, but to make it a better experience for the people using it.”’ The beach rake is an electronic sand-cleaner that is operated by one person from the seat of a towing tractor. The rake levels uneven sand and rakes debris of various kinds into the machine. “We are hoping this piece of equipment will show everyone what a gem the city beach really is,” said Peters. |
