Setting Up Remote Access on the Mac (5)

Step 1. Create an Account

Step 2. Set up Sharing.

Step 3. Check your Address

Step 4. Check your Security

Step 5. Set up your Firewall

Now that you've set up SSH, VNC and recorded your IP address, you are now ready to configure your firewall. I am assuming that you have a fairly new Linksys.

You'll need the password for the Linksys. Write it down.

Open Safari and goto http://192.168.1.1. Safari will drop down with the title "Authentication Required" and will give a place to supply a user name and a password. The user name is admin. The password is what you wrote down earlier.

When you are in, you want to go to the "Applications & Gaming" box and click. This will bring you to the "Port Range Forwarding". We are interested in forwarding port 22 (SSH) to the IP address of Mr. Mac. (It is probably 192.168.1.103).

In the port range, the start is 22 and the end is 22. Leave the "TCP UDP" set to Both. In the IP address, fill the box in with the number after the last decimal point. (In your case, it is probably 103).

Check the Enabled Box.

Click Save Changes.

At this point, I will be able to log in and see what you are doing
