Setting Up Remote Access on the Mac (2)

Step 1. Create an Account.

Step 2. Set up Sharing.

Step 3. Check your Address

Step 4. Check your Security

Step 5. Set up your Firewall

In this step, we're going to turn on secure shell (SSH) and virtual network computing (VNC). SSH is used to allow me to establish a secure, encrypted connection to your mac when I come in over the internet. Once I log in using SSH, I'll run a VNC program on my computer that talks over the SSH secure, encrypted connection to the VNC program running on Mr. Mac. This will allow me to do two things:

  1. View your desktop so I can see what you are doing.
  2. Run applications on your computer.

In the video, I added the wrong account. I should have added "Bub". (You can just leave it as "All Users" if you wish).

Next, after you click "Computer Settings..." and the dropdown window appears, you need to make sure both boxes are checked AND that you set the password in the box next to "VNC viewers may control screen with password:" Use the same password that you used for my account (Middle name, 1st letter capital, ends in 45)
