Citizenship Across Generations
About the documentary
“Citizenship Across Generations” is meant to educate others about
different generations’ views of citizenship. Specifically,
“Citizenship Across Generations” presents three different generations’ views on citizenship.
We chose this topic because we
think it is important to know what different age groups think about
citizenship in order to understand how it has not only developed but
also changed over time.By
learning from past experiences, we may also better understand
where citizenship can lead us in the future.
About the creators
We, Melissa Krebs (19), Carly
Berner (21), and Vanecia Yokley (23), were each born in the United States, and
that automatically makes us citizens of this country. But as we grew
older, our responsibilities and rights changed. When each of us turned 18, not only
were we allowed to vote, but we each entered college, where we started to look for ideas and models
we could build on. Hearing about the experiences of the older generations gives us one kind of guideline. It helps us learn from
the past; it helps us become better citizens in the present; and it helps us pave the way for generations
to come.
