What Makes a Good President?

About the documentary

Every four years United States citizens have a big choice to make. Voters chose leaders that will carry them through the next four years of American government. This decision will affect their jobs, their families, and their lives.

With such an important decision resting on the shoulders of American voters, I ask myself, “What makes someone vote the way they do?” Does one’s economic status affect the candidate they vote for?  How about their family and friends?  Do one’s ties with the military or lack thereof somehow influence their vote?  Ultimately, is one’s presidential vote framed by the voter’s personal life, experiences, and history?

To answer these questions, I interviewed three voters from different stages of life.
Hoping to see if their lives reflect their votes and vice-versa, I asked each one what he believes is essential to a good president. As you listen to their answers, you can decide what you think.

About the creator, Stewart Hazenfield

I am greatly interested in the reasons why people vote the way they do. In particular, I feel that people’s histories have a greater effect on their daily life than one actively notices. Life events and experiences play a large part in who we are, although the effect is different from person to person. Someone from another part of the country, social class, family setting, education, etc. may look for things in a presidential candidate than someone from another background will not. Ultimately, I believe that it is this history that becomes the backdrop for each individual’s presidential vote.
