citizenrhetoric

This site showcases citizen rhetoric. It features a growing archive of short, 3- to 5-minute documentaries created by citizen rhetors at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Investigating what it means to be a citizen or an active participant in contemporary society, these films cover a range of topics and stories. Some stay close to home, focusing on issues of citizenship in local schools and in the immediate community. Other films pursue regional, national, and even international inquiries.

Together, the work collected on this site offers new insight into what it means to belong and contribute to different communities in the twenty-first century.

We invite you to explore the site and learn more about citizen rhetoric. We also invite you to watch our films.*
