Despite the bravado and feats of the founders, the true metal of Cirdastan is measured in its standing army and suplemented by a milita that is both extremely well armed and constantly gaining in skill and professionalism. 

 

The defensive forces are made of 2 basic groups of professional troops including

 

51 light foot   @ 1 gp/month  These troops all trained with crossbow and either sword or a pole weapon for forming defensive lines.   Depending on strength, desire for flexiblity etc these troops may choose studded leather or chain armour as they see fit.

18 Heavy Footman  @ 2pg/month   These heavy troops are divided into two seperate groups the 10 who remain with the town forces at all times and the remaining 8 of 10 Marines who apparently picked the more dangerous of the 2 jobs.

These heavy troops all boast mixtures of chain and plate armour, shield, sword or halberd.

3 lieutenants @ 200 gp/m

 

1 Captain 7th level  700 GP/month

 

In addition to these troops are the elvish scouts of Orc Bane

 

The milita is made up of all able body adults in the community armed with a mish mash of weapons and training based on age, size, strength etc.

Each member must train with both a missle weapon that best suits their stature, light xbows, slings, javelins all have their adheirants in addition to  a pole weapon of some sort to form a line against anyone who breaches the wall.

 

Several pieces of man powered light artilery that can fire stones or burning oil are also manned by miltia,

 

Others ,especially the too old or too young who are physically capable but not suitable for combat will be used for first aid, fighting fires and bringing supplies of water, arrows, rocks to regular troops.

 

Future developments include an expansion of the professional army by up to 100%

In times of peace the troop distribution is as follows

10% on guard day shift

10% on guard evening shift

25% on guard night shift + the elf scouts if in town

20% on days off 2 days of 10

35% in training or labour details day

 

Milita  Farming season

 

1/10 days personal or unit training  -mandatory no pay

2/10  days evening guard duty        -mandatory no pay

 

Off season

 

2/10 guard duty mandatory , mixed shifts, no pay

5/10 mandatory training or word detail paid or in lieu of taxes.
