This Sgoth, The Assassin's Loss is a single masted coastal vessel of clinker construction originally used by Scarlet Brotherhood agents opperating off the coast of the Amedio Jungle. The ship was used to by Brotherhood monks to approach and board the Fugly Orc. After a fierce battle in which several of our crew were slain and the captive anmesic Elf Harcourt joined the battle on our side, the Sgoth was dragged aboard and taken as a costal scout/fishing boat for Cirdastan. The Assassins Loss is 25 ft in length, 6 across and quite shallow, it sits several men comfortably for longline fishing or up to about 8 for a short voyage. The design makes this vessal ideal for coastal use but too cramped and dangerous for extended use at sea.
The work horse of the Cirdastan Navy is the Fugly Orc a Caravel Redunda captured in pitched battle in a case of reversed piracy. With the majority of the crew under cover the Saviours of Cirda patroled the Wild coast in a leased ship attracting the attention of the naval forces of Turrosh Mak. To their credit, the Orc forces did not turn away under what was undboubtedly heavier than expected bow fire and proceeded to close in on the ship and board. While the Orcish forces had superior numbers the use of web spells divided and entrapped their forces allowing the adventurers to apply their superior abilities on those not webbed in. This tactic offset the Orcs' advantage and they were wittled down peice meal as they freed themselves from the webs. Since capture the ship has been repaired and modifed along the rails and aft castle to provide additional cover from missle weapons, additionaly 1 rear mounted catapult has been added for ship to ship combat.
The most recent addition to the Cirdastan navy is Cirda's Arrow a hybrid ship in the style of a short clinkered Snekke with tiller and a simplified cutter/sloop rigging consisting of 1 mast with boom supporting mainsail and foresail. The ship has 8 ft beam, a length of of 45 ft and sits just over 2ft deep in the water. While suitable for longer voyages the ship's main purpose is to speed its way out of danger and allow its small complement of men to beach the craft well up the shore and hide it from the sea. |
