In hopes of creating and resource industry of some type or at least finding fuel or building materials for the settlement, Rild contracted the services of a pair of prospector gnomes who where charged with searching out and cataloguing any mineral deposits near to the settlement. Unfortunately little of value other than clay deposits were found in the area between rivers inland past the escarpment; they did however come across a very strange artefact in the form of a partially buried metal object buried in the forest.
Upon investigation it was found to be some sort of ancient sky ship which had crashed centuries earlier gouging a path through the forest and entombing the greater part of the craft. A detailed inspection of the craft found beds and contoured seats for a crew of 4 one of which was still strapped into one of the chairs. The craft had windows which were cracked but not broken, storage areas which appeared to have been emptied, and a variety of panels, buttons, pipes, etc of unknown utility. The ship was a sages dream, full of many materials and metals unknown to this time and place.
Knowing that this artefact was beyond their ken the council of Cirdastan invited an expedition of mages, sages and clerics from GreyHawk in an effort to pry loose its secrets. After a detailed inspection little was found out as to where the vehicle came from, how it was propelled, the manufacture of the materials used in construction or what eventually happened to the 3 surviving crew who had left the crash site in a four wheeled magic carriage.
While little of substance was learned from the wreck during this investigation it was dug out and transported to the town in hopes it would bring curiosity seekers and scholars to Cirdastan in the future. The act of digging out the craft and clearing a path for its removal brought Sharna the Druid to the scene where complaints over the heavy logging were made. Promises were made to placate Sharna by rehabilitating the site and relocating saplings over the damaged areas as we passed through.
The Ship will eventually be placed at a promiment location atop a tower in town. |
