Cinergy Health Winter Vacation Tips

This winter, as you head south for a bit of sun, make sure that you have all of your health care supplies and tips in place before you go.  Cinergy Health offers an important acrostic to help you to remember all of the essentials this winter.  B.E.A.C.H.T.I.M.E should keep you healthy this winter.

B : Be sure to use sunscreen when you are enjoying the great outdoors.

E: Eat healthy foods and keep your immune system up on your travels.  Indulge in vegetables, fruits, whole foods and more.

A: Always keep your hands washed before eating, before touching your face, and after using the bathroom.  The flu virus travels directly from an ill person’s sneeze or cough to the next person.  Cough and sneeze into a tissue or into your sleeve, not into your hand.  And wash your hands often so that you don’t get other people’s germs on your hands.

C: Check the weather reports and bring the right clothing on your vacation.

H: Have your medications with you in your carry-on luggage.  You don’t want to find out that all of your medicines are stuck in another city while you’re on vacation for the week.

T: Take your medications with you and their doses.  Make a list and put this with your doctor’s business card and your insurance card in your wallet.

I: Inspect your health policy and make sure that you know what is covered and what isn’t.

M: Make sure you’ve gotten your flu shot at least two weeks before you travel,.

E: Expect delays and don’t let them get you stressed and overwhelmed. Have snacks with you as well so that you won’t make poor food choices while you wait and wait.
