Master's Programs

A Master's degree from an ALA-accredited Library and Information Studies program prepares you for a professional career in library and information science. The majority of employers require an ALA-accredited Master’s for professional positions. Kent State UniversityUniversity of Kentucky, and Indiana University (Bloomington) offer programs in our area. Many programs also offer distance learning opportunities.

  • American Indian Library Association Scholarship (AILA)
    The American Indian Library Association Scholarship shall be to provide tuition to an American Indian individual who lives and works in the American Indian community.
  • E.J. Josey Scholarship Award (BCALA)
    Two (2) unrestricted grants awarded annually to African American students enrolled in or accepted by ALA accredited programs.
  • Spectrum Scholarship
    Spectrum's major drive is to recruit applicants and award scholarships to American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian, Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino or Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander students. 
  • REFORMA Scholarship
    The award is announced at the American Library Association Annual Conference and is granted for graduate study in the field of Library and Information Science.Open to citizens and permanent residents of the United States who are Spanish-speakers.
  • Chinese American Library Association Scholarships (CALA)
    Applicants should be currently enrolled in ALA-accredited master'sprograms or in doctoral programs in Library and Information Science in degree-granting institutions in North America. 
    Applicants must be of Chinese nationality or of Chinese descent.
