2012 Suggested Show Changes
2 (two) motions were made at the December meeting regarding: 1) A CLASS ADDITION, AND 2) CHANGES
TO THE EXISTING BRITISH CLASSES which will be voted upon at the
FEBRUARY 12th meeting at Chequers in Miamiville
IF YOU CANNOT ATTEND THE FEB MEETING AND WANT TO VOTE,
CALL IN YOUR VOTE TO BEN ROSSELOT SOMETIME DURING THE WEEK BEFORE THE MEETING ON FEB 12TH.

For the motions, see below:
Motion #1 - A motion has been made by Denny White and seconded to add a new category to the club show.
This ONE AWARD PER CATEGORY would be for the "Best Unrestored/Original Bike"
and would be only in the British, Japanese, and European categories.
The entrant can only enter once in the category, he must decide if he wishes to enter in general competiton or the Unrestored/Original category.
As outlined in club rules, this entry/bike must "run."
Why:
1) A chance to win an award versus competing against complete frame-off restorations
2) More entries, more club dollars
Motion #2 - A motion has been made by Denny White and seconded to alter the year ranges of three British Classes
at our next club show in September 2012. This change only involves changing 3 British classes, class 200, 300 and 400.
The present classes and the suggested changes and rationale are listed below.
Present British Class Breakdown:
Class 100 - British - any year up to 1962
Class 200 - British - 1963-1968 (6 years)
Class 300 - British - 1969-74 (6 years)
Class 400 - British - 1975 - 25 years old
Proposed Changes:
Class 100 - British - any year up to 1962 (no change, '62 is last year of pre-unit construction)
Class 200 - British - 1963 - 1966 (4 year class - This is the 1st year of unit construction for Triumph and BSA)
Class 300 - British - 1967-1970 (4 more years of Triumph and BSA unit construction)
Class 400 - 1971- 25 years old (1st year of Triumph and late model BSA oil-in-frame)
Why:
1) Although we are a "British Bike Club," among members, Triumphs out number all other makes.
In our last show in British entries there were 11 Triumphs, 4 Nortons, 3 Ariels, 1 BSA and 1 AJS
2) there are few if no Triumph pre-units in the club; most of our Triumph and BSA show bikes fall in the '63-'70 range creating much compitition
3) By breaking the mid/late '60s into two groups of 4 years, Triumphs and BSAs most popular years,
entrants have a better chance to win an award i.e. 6 plaques within an 8 year span of bikes vs. 6 plaques within a 12 year span
4) Triumph and BSA entrants would be competing head to head with one another design-wise:
Pre-unit vs. preunit * Unit vs. unit * Oil-in-frame vs. oil-in-frame
5) Finally it would seem this restructuring would greatly simplify judging
Voting:
Again, if you CANNOT make the meeting and want to vote call Ben sometime during the week before the Feb. 12th meeting.
At the meeting there will be a "paper ballot" vote:
Motion 1 - Unrestored/Original (new category) Yea or Nay
Motion 2 - Change in British classes - Yea or Nay
