Welcome to my website! My name is Cigdem Gencel. I am currently working as a senior researcher and lecturer at Faculty of Computer Science in Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Italy. Prior to that, between 2008 and 2011, I worked at the School of Computing in Blekinge Institute of Technology, Sweden. I hold my PhD from Informatics Institute of the Middle East Technical University in Turkey where I also worked as a post doc researcher between 2005-2007. I also have been working as a part-time consultant for industry on software measurement program planning, functional size measurement, effort estimating and performance measurement. My research focuses on different fields in software engineering such as software measurement, software size and effort estimation, software project management, software quality, software process improvement and requirements elicitation. Currently, I am particularly interested in doing research on software quality and software project management challenges in global software engineering. Furthermore, I have been working on how to use measurement process as a strategy for better business value and quality management. You can find more information about my on-going and past research in my resume. When it comes to who 'I am' complementing my professional identity, I can describe myself as 'a dreamer and a seeker'. Therefore, one can see me researching different dimensions of human psychology and behavior for understanding myself and others, or observing how people make use of different media (such as music, dance or other forms of art) to think and to express themselves. Of course trying to discover my own ways is the most fun part of it :) |
