Floating Village
This is a good place to come on a sunny afternoon - you’ll see why the locals come here for a quiet picnic spot. A boat will take you out onto an enormous reservoir where you can walk out on the bamboo walkways between countless fish farms floating on the water. Botanical Gardens The famous Botanical gardens in Cibodas are about 50 minutes away from Cianjur by motorbike. There are interesting plants, flowers and cacti to see, but even without much interest in botany it’s a good place just for a walk in the beautiful surroundings. Rural VillageTo get to this remote village there’s an energetic walk for about 45 minutes. Though mostly uphill, you can enjoy the pretty rice terraces and views from the hillside. You will arrive at a village that enjoys a simpler way of life without the need for modern technology or communications. Expect local hospitality and food, and a massage if you’re lucky. It is advisable to wear shoes but the walk is still possible in sandals. Tea PlantationYou can get shown around the enormous tea plantation by a guide who is very knowledgeable about the wide variety of tea grown on the slopes, which makes this plantation unique. You can also see the factory where the tea is processed and dried. Traditional market Although there are a few supermarkets,most people in Cianjur still go to traditional market to get their fresh vegetables,fruits,spices and ingridients for cooking, if you like cooking just want to learn many variety of fresh local produce,this is a fun place to go in the morning. Plastics Recycle Project There are many plastics recycle projects in Cianjur, from small one to a big one, it is estimated that around 2000 people are employed in this project, they recycle more plastics than the city creates, so they get plastics rubbish from neighboring cities such as Bogor,Jakarta and Bandung. Sorting out many different kind of plastics takes the longest as it is done by hands, they are doing good things for environment, but unfortunately they are not sponsored by local city council or government. Working on rice field
Cianjur is famous for its rice and has plenty of rice field, learning how to grow rice and harvest is a nice experience to do, you will be shown the proces of growing rice from planting up to harvesting as well as tasting Pandan wangi (special rice grown in Cianjur and famous in the country) and cooked with some spices such as lemon grass,spring onion etc and this is local specialty called Nasi Liwet.
