Carlsbad High Speech and Debate started 6 years ago. Since then, the team has grown to an outstanding number of members--from 22 members to now over 100 members! Carlsbad High School Speech and Debate Team is gaining reputation as a top-notch Speech and Debate team continues to grow as we bring in more and more trophies and metals.





In our first year, CHS took 3 competitors to the California State Tournament. In 2012, we qualified an amazing 37 students. !

Instructed and led by Team Coach Mrs. Curtis , CHS Speech and Debate haswon the San Diego League Sweepstakes for the last two years. Last year, CHS competed in the Winter Classic 2011 (a highly competitive tournament combining 55 schools from 4 different states) --CHS took home 1std place sweepstakes. Our own Yujia Pan was 1st Place Champion in Expository speaking!


     


**We are constantly looking for local volunteer judges (experienced or not) for our tournaments. Participate in a fun, eventful experience while supporting your local school! Please contact coach Minnia Curtis if you are interested.**
