Hi Ladies,
We all know how
beautiful flowers are and how they enhance any setting. They beautify a
kitchen table, Blessed Mother’s altar, or any place where they can be
seen. An arrangement put together correctly should last a good two weeks
or more depending on what flowers are used so you can enjoy the fruits of your
labor for quite a while.
I would love to give a silk flower arranging
class to anyone interested for your sake and mine. One of the reasons is
we are looking for more help with the flower maintenance at St. Joseph’s Chapel
and this could be a great way for our Christian Mothers to discover a hidden
talent. The other reason is because we all love to pick up a new skill
(right?) and working with flowers is fun and rewarding. I will do a fresh
flower class sometime this year if there is interest but working
with silk first is less intimidating for someone new to the craft.
What you’re looking for are colors
that go well together, for example: red & white, blue &
yellow, purple & pink, brown & orange, etc. Try to follow a color
scheme (of your choice).
Below is a list of items you will need
to bring to the class and to save money I shop at St. Vincent de Paul
1st for silks, containers, and green
dry foam.
1. Small to medium container of
your choice
2. 3-5 stems
small “head” flowers for filler
3. 3-5 stems of
greenery
4. 3 larger single flowers, i.e. roses, carnations,
Gerbera daisies, etc. (these take the spotlight)
5. 5-7 stems of in between flowers: larger than
the flowers in item #2 but smaller than the larger flowers in item #4.
6. Small
chunk of dry foam (to fit snuggly in your container)
7. Strong wire cutters (2-3 ladies can share if we don’t have
enough)
8. 1-2 yards of ribbon to
match color scheme
(optional)
NOTES: *I would go first to second hand
stores like St. Vincent DePaul because they always have great treasures for
cheap and it can help keep your cost down.
If you have any questions please call and I
will do what I can to answer them.
Blessings to you Christian
Mothers! Lori Fameree (920)

P.S. Helping out with the flowers at St.
Joseph’s Oratory is completely optional so don’t hide your talent for fear of
recruitment! Ha

Please mark your calendars for these necessary CHANGES for what would be our April meeting. Due to the First Saturday in April being Holy Saturday, we have decided to [1st change] MOVE THAT MEETING UP to Saturday, March 31st. We will meet in the [2nd change] Chancery Building Conference Room (former Bosco) at the usual time starting with our usual prayers together, on Mar. 31st.
In our CCM "Domestic Church Skills" calendar of events for this meeting, we will have the pleasure of having Lori Fameree lead us in a flower arrangement demonstration. She has some info about the things you will need for that demonstration (found attached). If you don't want to participate in making an arrangement yourself, feel free to just come and enjoy the demonstration and socializing.
FOOD: It will be a POTLUCK BRUNCH. Please bring whatever you would like to share. Refreshments will be provided.
Note: Unfortunately due to Palm Sunday preparations, Canon Hellmann will NOT be able to give us a Conference at this meeting.
As always, interested women, mothers, & grandmothers are always welcome to see what we are all about! |

We will meet after the 8:45 a.m. Holy Mass on First Saturday, March 3rd. Our prayers will begin earlier than usual, beginning at 9:45 a.m. in Bona Hall room 39.
The highlight of our meeting is that Canon Hellmann will again inspire us with a Conference.

We will immediately dive into to our "Domestic Church Skills" section of our meeting, this month it will be featuring,...learning how to sew a simple girl's skirt. Rachel bought varied supplies while they were on sale. Please give Rachel $6.00 if you are sewing a skirt with her supplies to defray the cost of the materials.
It is important to sign up (if you have not done so already) to insure enough supplies for all of those wishing to sew a skirt. Please sign up on our sign up form which you can find the link on our homepage... www.sites.google.com/site/christianmothersols
As always, any mothers, grandmothers, or women that are interested in seeing what we are all about are always welcome!

The Confraternity of Christian Mothers will meet after the First Saturday Holy Mass in reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary as she requested at Fatima, on December 3rd, with prayers beginning about 10:00 am in Bona Hall. (Dial 8217 if you arrive after 10:00.)
Canon Hellmann will again give us another inspiring Conference for our spiritual nourishment.
Our topic of discussion was decided at our November meeting and thus will be to continue discussing, "How to prepare our families & homes for Advent, and finish with how to prepare our families & homes for Christmas"
It is a great treat for everyone to share a dish or snack to pass if you have the time to bring something, but of course not required.
As always, all mothers & grandmothers are WELCOME to come and see what we are about & share their ideas. :) |

Our annual Mass & Communion in honor of the Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary, will be Thursday evening, September 15th, at 7:00 pm. This is a VERY important event for the Confraternity!!!! According to #8 of the Principal Rules and Regulations: "Twice a year, in addition to the regular monthly Communion, a general Communion should be held on the principal feast of the Confraternity (Sept. 15) and on such other day as the Director will appoint." Canon Hellmann expressed his wishes that he hopes as many members as possible will attend this Mass.
Following the Mass, there will be a Solemn Reception of new members if there are any this year, and installation of a new officer. Immediately following pictures of new members/officers there will be a social in the Chancery building (former Bosco). All the families are welcome, if possible please bringing a light snack to share.
If you are aware of any mothers or grandmothers that has shown an interest in becoming a CCM member please contact one of the officers, or email ccm.officers@gmail.com. |
