Namaste!  Yoga for Young Warriors is a Denver based mobile business designed to offer children  the opportunity to recieve the benefits of yoga in a setting that is fun, interactive and educational. The practice of yoga involves multiple levels-physical, emotional and mental.  YFYW is designed to challenge students in all of these ways and extend their learning to areas off the mat. Students will engage in storytelling, movement, music, science, and public service to extend their yoga experience to many areas of their life.  Yoga for Young Warriors was created to serve the whole child and it benefits are countless.

2009 BLOG:

June 23, 2010 It has been just over two years since this idea began surfacing in my life and I am so grateful to have YFYW as my career path.  I am going through lots of growing right now.  I led my first teacher training and my staff has the potential to grow from 4 to 17!  All of the women who attended the training have such a passion for kids and it will be a privilege to have them on my team.
It looks like I will be setting down some roots in the LoHi neighborhood beginning on August 1st.  More news to come on that soon!
Camps start next week and I can't wait to meet all the new and great Young Warriors.  Check out my new headshots throughout the site.  Kellie Couglin Photographer never lets me down.

Wow!  What a spring!  I literally have transformed to someone teaching yoga for kids and managing my business part-time to full time yoga for kids work!  I visited so many beautiful children and schools this spring.  I also have expanded my network to Stapleton and to Elliot Street Collective.  I am excited to see what Daily Deals for Denver Moms can do for my summer camp business.  I also am leading a teacher training on June 12 and 13 which will bring me lots of help but also lots of great contacts for future kid yogis!

February 4, 2010
It was just 2 short years ago that I came home after a difficult day of teaching elementary school and declared that I needed to take steps to change my life.  Even though some of the steps may have seemed itty-bitty I have really turned myself around.  I am so proud of my business, but more importantly I am proud of how I use my energy day to day.
I am privileged to continue to work with all the schools I have built contacts with so far.  But I am very excited to announce my return to Qi Athletic Club.  We have created evening sessions for yoga for kids.  I look forward to building the groups and watching this project grow.

Fall brought a lot of blesssing to YFYW and many new changes.  This fall we expanded to include Sandoval Elementary School.  I enjoyed visiting the bilingual students there and teaching a new and dynamic class.  Our regularly scheduled classes at Qi were put on hold until the New Year since I was traveling abroad.  We are looking forward to starting new 6 week long sessions at Qi later this winter. I added new teachers to my team, so that I can be in many places at the same time!  I look forward to seeing the students grow under their guidance.

This fall I got to welcome two new YFYW teachers onto my staff.  Meghan Sullivan and Sarah Wolfgram joined my team.  Both of these girls are fantastic teachers and yogis.  They both bring instant smiles to children's faces.  YFYW will certainly grow with their passion and strong spirit.  Welcome to the team.

July 31, 2009

Along with camps, YFYW has grown and evolved over the summer.  On August 3rd we will launch classes at a brand new yoga studio.  Qi Yoga is excited to offer YFYW classes on site 5 days a week.  3170 E Colfax Street is where the fun will happen.  There will be two types of classes, one for young, young warriors and another for young warriors.  I am so excited to have a little space to call home and also to offer classes in such an amazing neighborhood.

What an amazing summer has unfolded right before my eyes.  I have been so busy working with students, I have not updated my blog in months.  This summer I focused my kids work on summer camps.  The camps were amazing.  YFYW became a part of the routine at local day camps and the kids LOVED it.  It was so fun to watch their progress week to week and also the look on their faces as I walked in with a new day of fun and movement.  I am wrapping up with camps this week and look forward to what the future holds.

March 11, 2009

So many new things are happen for YFYW and kids' fitness in general.  I heard this past weekend that a bill is being drafted that will require kids to have at least 150 minutes of physical activity each week at school.  Colorado is one of the last states to mandate physical activity in schools and this would be amazing progress for kids, schools and of course small businesses like mine.  I can't wait to see what comes of this....I am beginning to create curriculum that could teach teachers how to incorporate movement and yoga into their daily schedules...more to come on that soon!

March 9, 2009

Well I have been meaning to blog for at least 6 months and have finally sat down to give it a try.  YFYW is off to such an amazing start.  In the month of February and March, I have participated in so many fun events with kids.  I am currently finishing up an after school program at Silver Creek in Thornton, CO.  This is my second visit this year and I love those kiddos!  They are working on a partner flow and have grown a lot in controlling their breath! I am looking forward to beginning a spring program in SUMMIT GROVE PARK- on Tuesdays in May.  More info to come on that!
