Music

Music is an important part of our life here at Christ Church - from the Parish Eucharist with full choir to an all age celebration with the instrumental group. And every day at Morning and Evening Prayer simple chant is used to sing the canticles, and we have a regular cycle of concerts and recitals.

This picture shows three of our choristers - Lucy, Rosie and Ruth - after a special service in Leeds Parish Church where they received their Bishop's Chorister Awards.

The current music list is available for you to download at the bottom of this page.

The Choir sings each Sunday at the 10 am Parish Eucharist, except on the first Sunday of each month and in August. Rehearsals take place every Thursday in term time - 6.30 pm for trebles and 7 pm for full choir. New singers are always welcome. Please simply come along to a practice or contact Christine Alp via the Parish Office (01423 530750).

The Music Group plays at the 10 am All Age Parish Eucharist on the first Sunday of each month. Music is available at least a week in advance (including transpositions for Bb instruments), and the band normally meets at 9 am on the morning of the service to run through the music. If you would like to find out more, please simply come along to a practice or contact Christine Alp via the Parish Office (01423 530750).

LUNCHTIME RECITALS: here are the details of the latest exciting series of Lunchtime Recitals here at Christ Church. Recitals normally take place on the first Wednesday of the month starting at 12.15 pm in church, and a light lunch is on offer afterwards in the Parish Centre.

  • Wednesday, 4 July at 12.15 pm: Organ Recital by William Fox. William is a young organist from North Yorkshire who is about to take up the organ scholarship at Wells Cathedral School.
