Parish News:

The Altar Guild Room

Now that the Sunday School area is clean, dry and ready for business, we’ll be cleaning out and better organizing the Alter Guild room.  At least one of the two bookcases will be moved downstairs.  Several years ago, a lending library was envisioned and two bookshelves of books were acquired and located in an area that would make it convenient for people to browse and borrow.  That location was the Alter Guild room.

For whatever reason, it has also been several years since anyone has even chosen to borrow any of the books.  If anyone has any interest in borrowing and/or owning any of these books, please let Father Walt or a vestry member know.  The window of opportunity is coming to a close; within the next several weeks, we will be finding other homes for any remaining books and a cleaner, less cluttered, Alter Guild room will be forthcoming...  suze

Annual Meeting - January 15, 2012

This year’s annual meeting reflected the strong sense of unity and commitment that have characterized the past year.  The treasurer’s report addresses the seriousness and consequences of our current financial situation.  Without ignoring these sobering facts, the Vestry remains optimistic about the state of our church and the positive prospects for our future.  The Vestry is deeply appreciative of all who so faithfully and graciously serve in countless ways to see that the daily responsibilities of church work gets done.  Equally important, are the countless contributions made on a regular basis to nurture the sense of community, fellowship, and caring that have become so important and so characteristic of our parish life.  I think we’ve become a more open and inviting church and have seen a sense of shared responsibility in reaching out to one another and sharing an earnestness to build fellowship and establish a strong foundation that helps nurture our spiritual growth.

Our financial situation requires serious and direct adjustments to see us through these difficult economic challenges.  Father Walt and Eileen have responded most graciously and generously not only by serving for the past four years, but for agreeing to stay committed to our church and our well-being with a reduced salary.  Although the time commitment for the work week is consequently reduced, it does not alter the fact that being with us carries the same challenges and demands of leadership and commitment, but with less time and significantly less money, to do so.  We are blessed to have their earnest commitment and their involvement. Together, with their example, and the example and commitment of countless parishioners, we look forward to continued growth and a strong future.

From the Jr. Warden

We're nearly finished with the downstairs rooms!  As soon as the floor is sealed and polished, we'll be ready to move in.  As the new Sunday School rooms are set up, this is an opportunity to get rid of the things we don't need anymore and really set up a space for our kids that they will enjoy.

We've also replaced the toilet in the men's room, so hopefully our water leaks are resolved.

Many thanks to Stacey, Matt, Joanne and Buddy for all their hard work painting the rooms after the drywall was replaced.

Heifer Project – The children are launching their annual fundraiser for the Heifer Project on November 27.  It culminates at the Epiphany Dinner on January 7.   They met their goal to raise $1,000.
