"Meaningful Education: What Key Values Will Shape the Social and Moral Aims of Education in the Next Two Decades?" Thursday 25th to Saturday 27th March 2010 I am very enthused about an upcoming conference co-sponsored by York St John University, the University of Hull, the Hong Kong Institute of Education and SPU. Started many years back by Professor Arthur Ellis, this small and community building conference has continued in various forms and venues, both locally and internationally. After our gathering at The Hong Kong Institute of Education a couple of years ago, this educational forum is shifting back to England. Many of our current education faculty participated in the conference held at the ancient and quaint city of Beverley, England. In the past and for this conference, presenters will come from SPU, UK, Hong Kong, mainland China, and elsewhere. Obviously the conference focus is broad enough to encompass your educational field. Your presentation could address what is meaningful in reading, literacy, special, counselor, teacher education, etc. Attached is the official announcement and call for papers. The cost is very reasonable because it includes conference fees, housing and meals, and a tourist outing. Right now flights on British Airlines are about $800 for this time period. Less expensive ones are available. Please submit your 300 word presentation proposal to Professor Julian Stern, Dean of Education & Theology at York St John University by Oct 1, 2009.
