Chris and I got married August 1st 2009.  This site is about our family's life.
Things we love. Our experiences, hopes, and dreams.  We have a firm belief in god. In that every thing is through him.  He has blessed us with understanding, patience, and love for each other.  We are going to have a baby in January. We have my two children, Landon and Elizabeth, in which we have all grown and continue to grow as a family.  Chris and I have allot in common in that we both grew up in the eighties.  We like the same music, remembering what was on TV when we grew up, and basically how life was like when we were kids.  She makes me feel like a kid every time I look into her eyes.  Just one more month to a month and a half and we will have a new baby gir.  We can't wait.

Is Spring Here Yet?

posted Mar 4, 2010 4:22 AM by John Cook

It's March I know spring is around the corner but, it seems to be taking it's time getting here in the northeast.  We got a couple of inches of snow yesterday morning and by the end of the day all of it melted.  This morning you could tell it was getting a little warmer and the air had that special smell of the promise of spring.  I can't wait.  I think the freshly fallen snow is pretty during winter but, I really am not a cold weather person.  I enjoy the heat of summer.  It will be here, as it always is.  It is just waiting for it that takes patience.  Josephine has a cold and just got her shots so she is not feeling to well.  She went with her mommy to the doctor on Tuesday.  Our little girl is now 8 pounds 7 ounces and is 21 3/4" tall.  She is coming along well.  Landon and Elizabeth are also doing well.  Tomorrow Elizabeth has a pajama movie party at school.  I hope she has a lot of fun.  Landon is still playing Mario Brothers and trying to get past world two.  We are just waiting for this long cold winter to be over and to embrace the promise of spring.

In The Middle Of A Snowstorm

It's 7:30 on the East coast and we woke up to four inches of snow on the ground and it is still snowing.  Baby Josephine and mommy are doing well.  They are still upstairs sleeping getting their rest.  Landon is playing Mario as usual.  It is amazing  That a five year old is so good at computer games.  Maybe when he grows up he will develop them.  Elizabeth just got up and the first thing she did was point out the window at the freshly fallen snow.  I think if it stops snowing this afternoon I will take the kids to Hubbard Park to go sledding.

On a Schedule

posted Feb 10, 2010 3:03 AM by John Cook

Well baby Josephine is finally getting on a sleep schedule and we are very happy.  She is sleeping about 2 to 3 hours at a time and eating well, about 2 to 3 ounces of formula at a time.  It seems that how much she eats corresponds with how many hours she sleeps.  Mommy and daddy are getting rest at regular intervals and that is very nice.  Landon had his fifth birthday party on Saturday with his friend Kai who was born on the same day.  I think it is pretty cool that Christine and I met friends at church who have a son the same age as Landon.  The kids get along well also.  Elizabeth was excited at church that she could read the bible.  Christine and I picked up a children's bible yesterday for her and we can't wait to give it to her.

Sleep would be nice for mommy

posted Feb 4, 2010 3:01 AM by John Cook

It has been a little while since our last post.  Our apologies.  Baby Josephine is doing well except for only sleeping twenty minutes at a time.  It was starting to take a toll on mommy.  Now Josephine is getting on a better schedule where she sleeps sometimes for three hours at a time.  I try to help as much as I can but Christine is the one who does most of the staying up with the baby.  I am glad she is starting to get some rest, it is hard to function with broken sleep.  Everyone else is doing well.  Elizabeth and I are going shopping this weekend for her brother Landon's birthday present.  She wants to get him some Hot Wheel cars for his collection.

Back to Work

It was a very good week but alas we must go back to work sometime.  Josephine is coming along just fine.  She has gained almost a pound since we left the hospital and is a very happy baby.  The other day I was holding her and talking to her, I caught a glimpse of a smile and it brought tears to my eyes.  What an awesome responsibility god has given Christine and me.  Mommy is doing great.  She is starting to get on a schedule and getting some sleep.  Elizabeth and Landon had a lot of fun this weekend.  We made a volcano and painted it.  After it was done we put baking soda and vinegar in it to make it erupt.  We even took video of it.  Gramma had to go back to Florida and we were very thankful for all of her help.  A little side not on Florida for histories sake.  There was a couple of days this week when it was warmer here, in Connecticut, than in Florida.  Dave told us one morning that the birdbath there was frozen solid.  Talk about global warming.

Christmas vacation

posted Jan 4, 2010 3:36 AM by John Cook

We had a Great Christmas vacation full of surprises, fun, and love.  It all started when the kids got out for Christmas break.  We came home from their mothers and had a nice night together with diner, popcorn, and a movie.  Christmas morning the kids were so excited to open their presents and Christine and I were very happy to find out that Santa had brought them everything they wanted and more.  Landon got his new Mario game  for the wii along with his Hot Wheels and Elizabeth got her American Doll dolls.  They played all week very nicely together and shared.  Then at 3:25 in the morning after Christmas we were blessed with an addition to our family, Josephine Noelle Cook.  This made mommy and me very happy.  Christine is a fine mother and is getting used to taking care of our little night owl.  Yes Josephine likes to sleep all day and stay up all night.  We know this will change as baby girl gets on a schedule but, I wish Christine would be able to get more rest.   Grammie came up from Florida and is helping us.  What a joy and blessing it is to have her in our lives.  I brought the kids back to their mother's last night and it was snowing.  On the way we played the eye spy game.  Those kids are very imaginative and fun to be with.

Josephine Noelle Cook

Christine and I received a late Christmas present December 26th at 3:25 a.m.  Yes we have a beautiful baby girl, Josephine Noelle Cook.  Mommy and baby are very health and happy.  Christine started going into labor around 9:00 Christmas night so we went to the hospital.   The contractions were not coming at a regular pace so the nurse was getting ready to send us home.  She checked to see where Josephine s head was and could not find it.  She had to call our doctor in and it was found out that Josephine had turned in her mommy's belly and would come out breach if Christine had to deliver.  After talking with our doctor we decided to do an emergency c-section.  Everything went very well.  Josephine was born at 6 pounds, she is a keeper.  I think that Josephine looks just like her mother, a very beautiful girl.
They are doing well in the hospital getting rest and preparing to come home.  I can't wait.  Thank you god for this blessing you have given our family.

Will We Have a Christmas Present or New Years Baby

posted Dec 21, 2009 6:05 PM by John Cook

Well, Christine and I just got back from the doctor's and every thing is fine.  Christine is nice and healthy and Josephine has a very strong heart beat.  The Doctor changed the date that Josephine is due.  She thinks we are going to have a New Years baby.  On the way home Christine started having contractions.  She is now having them every 45 minutes or so.  We think that Josephine wants to be here for Christmas.  She is wiggling around a lot, which the doctor says is normal.  We decided since Jo Jo is going to be here around one of the holidays to give her the middle name Noelle.  We think Josephine Noelle Cook will be a very beautiful name to have.

Let The Countdown Begin

Christine and I went to the doctor last night.  Mommy and baby are in good health.  Josephine is not moving as much in mommy's belly now and she has dropped down.  Her heartbeat is still nice and strong.  The doctor said it will be no time at all until Josephine is ready to see the light of day.  This makes mommy very happy, she is getting ready to hold her baby girl and can't wait to be able to bend over and tie her own shoes.  Christine will also be able to walk easier.  I just know she is going to be the best mom.  Elizabeth helped us pack our hospital luggage while Landon took a knap.  Both kids are excited to see there little sister.  Daddy can't wait either.

Chralie Brown Christmas Tree

posted Dec 6, 2009 6:12 PM by John Cook   [ updated Dec 7, 2009 8:00 AM ]

It was a good weekend as a family.  We started out with gettiing ready for Chistmas Saturday morning by doing Christmas ornament projects my mother sent up for us from Florida.  We had a lot of fun putting together Frosty the Snowman, reindeer, and Christmas Moose ornaments.  Christine and Elizabeth worked together and I worked with Landon.  He told me the boys have to stick together.  What a smart boy, LOL.  We put up a small Christmas Tree this year but, it was so much fun decorating it with th kids and Christine.  It leans a little to the side, the branches aren't even, and It has too much decorations.  It kinda remindes me of a Charlie Brown Christmass tree.  None of that matters.  What matters the most to me is we got to decorate it together as a family.
