Hope Centers are social work stations CWLC set up in Sichuan earthquake areas. It is a program newly launched after May 2008, focusing on earthquake disaster relief. The center offers orphans and children, who lost a parent in the earthquake, with materials supplies and trauma recovery support to assist mental recovery and return to normal live. The first few centers were established in Mianyang city in Anxian and Wenchuan. Programs launched include “A thousand summer school bag relief” and water purifiers installed to cover over ten relief areas.
l Who do we help? Orphans or children in single-parent families from birth to 18 years old in Sichuan. Children from birth to age 18 in Sichuan with two parents who are in extreme need due to the earthquake.
l How do we help? Provide material assistant, medical care, counseling and other services. Assistant the schools’ need where the targeted children study.
l What are subsidies? RMB 170,000 will enable us to set up and sustain one Hope Center for a whole year.
l How do sponsors get updated? Evaluations reports and progress updates showing work process and recipients’ update will be provided to donors every 3 months
l To join us, you can: 1. Donate money to set up one or more Hope Centers. 2. Be a volunteer in Sichuan to help the children directly. 3. Bring more resources by recommending more people to get involved.
