Howard County Childrens' Chorus

Howard
County Childrens' Chorus is an auditioned chorus of fourth and fifth
graders with representation from the various public elementary schools
in Howard County Public School System. Students are challenged to
learn a variety of music from various genres at an accelerated pace.
The chorus rehearses from September though May and performs two times
a year. Students who participate in this group must also participate in
chorus at their elementary school. Winter Concert Information
The
children have been working very hard and we're looking forward to the
upcoming concert. I would like to give you a few reminders about this
week's schedule:
CONCERT:
Sun., Dec. 4th
3:00 concert, 1:30 pm report time
Reservoir HS auditorium
Concert dress: white short sleeve polos, black pants, dark shoes
Also,
please make sure that your children are getting to rehearsals on time
(i.e. ten minutes early). In addition, we would like to make a plea for
better attendance. We have been having between 8 and 12 students
absent for each rehearsal and are feeling as though this is a little
excessive. Ideally we would like to have 3 or less students absent from
each rehearsal. Every time someone misses a rehearsal, it impacts the
whole group. Having said that, we understand fully that students do get
very ill and there are at times, unavoidable conflicts. We would just
like to ask everyone to evaluate carefully whether or not these absences
are truly warranted. As a reminder, if a student is absent more than 3
times from HCCC, they will be asked to leave the group. We love all
the children at HCCC and do not want anyone to miss out on this
fantastic experience.
We
also ask that you work with your child to make sure that all the music
is memorized for the concert. We particularly need them to work on
Christmas Dance of the Shepherds and Ocho Kandelikas. In addition,
Still Silent Night could use a little work. The students were asked to
have all their music memorized upon their return from Thanksgiving, but
these 3 songs were the ones that we were really struggling with last
night.
