Counties. Memberships Child Care Aware of Southeast Kansas is one of seven District Offices in Kansas. These offices are part of Child Care Aware of Kansas. This state network provides professional development and technical assistance to child care providers, helps parents find quality child care, and educates the community on the importance of quality child care for all children, including infants, toddlers, and school age children. Child Care Aware of Southeast Kansas is also a member of the National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies (NACCRRA). Funding The Child Care Resource and Referral Program receives funding through SRS, Early Childhood Block Grant, and Kansas Children’s Initiative funds through the Child Care Aware of Kansas (Formerly KACCRRA). Services to Parents Parents in need of child care simply call a toll-free number. A referral specialist will match the parent’s child care needs with a list of child care providers. Matches are based on the parent’s criteria. All providers on the list are in good standing with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. However, parents should know that the list of providers they receive are referrals, not recommendations. Parents needing child care should call 1.877.678.2548 for assistance.
Services to Child Care Providers District Offices provide professional development opportunities to child care providers. These opportunities are available throughout Kansas. District Offices also provide telephone and on-site technical assistance with many child care issues, and a “traveling” resource library with materials that help improve child care quality for children of all ages. A high priority of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies is the Infant/Toddler Project. This project focuses on providing quality care to infants and toddlers, either in a home-based or center based setting. Services to Businesses and Community We are available to present information on early childhood issues at community events, civic organizations, churches, schools, and for anyone else who asks. Our staff is active on coalitions and early childhood projects on both local and state levels. We are also happy to work with local organizations that have conferences, events, or other services which are beneficial for parents, children, or child care providers. Our office would welcome the opportunity to advertise these events and perhaps collaborate to make these events more successful.
