Manifestos From Maarvon 1st issue Manifesto, 2006: "We
offer a new magazine for cinema - Maarvon.. for us, films are not only
themselves, but the entire discourse and culture that surrounds them.
By that, and not only because of their length, film are similar to
soccer. In this magazine we seek to improve cinema, and not only
explore it... "Maarvon" in Hebrew means western - an American film
genre that many times seem to describe a general mood that resembles
the atmosphere in Israel. "Maarvon" means also, in our language, a
small west." From Maayan 1st issue manifesto, 2005: "Maayan is a display window to new poetry. It is modern, in the same sense that car magazines [use to] revel in vehicles with special new gadgets, an extra gear, or a mechanism that can reduce pollution. It is electric poetry. Maayan's poetics lustfully suck and incorporate any linguistic register and layer... The poets of Maayan relish the characteristics of The Middle East. They are taking their heads out of the car window, shouting at the wind. Consumed with desire, they take in the smell of exhaust-fumes". Maarvon 1 Joshua Simon - A Certain Tendency in Israeli Cinema Benny Ben David - Broken Bottles
