COOKING HAM IN A CROCKPOT - COOKING SHOWS ON PBS - TAMIL FOOD COOKING Cooking Ham In A Crockpot
Blackeyed peas and rice This is my first time cooking dried blackeyed peas in the crockpot. I used a 12 oz bag of dried blackeyed peas(I rinsed them off in cold water to make sure there was no rocks or dirt-which I did not find any dirt or rocks in the Dixie Lily brand that I bought)I covered the peas in a crockpot with about 2 cups ham juice that I had stored in the freezer from cooking a smoked ham in the crockpot a fews months ago. then I added about 4 more cups of water. A few splashes of hot sauce and a dash of onion powder, 2 pinches of Kosher salt. This cooked for about 12 hrs and was delicious I served with some store brand long grain white rice. This was pretty tasty for breakfast and my whole house smelled like fall cooking. Sarma in a crockpot
Since there is still ham plus some other seasonings to add, I think it probable that this will expand into a second crockpot a few hours from now. sauerkraut 4 lbs. ground meat 2 chopped onions garlic 1 1/2 cups raw white rice (I used about half that) chopped bell pepper salt and other seasonings smush it up, roll it up put sauerkraut dregs in the bottom of the pot later add ham or sausage or what-have-you and roux with paprika cook a long time. shouldn't use tomato juice really - this time I used only a few ounces in the filling for liquid crumbled bacon in the filling is an option See also: cooking a pre cooked ham cooking thermometers reviews chicken breast cooking times american home cooking free mobile cooking games cooking times for stuffed turkey cooking for dinner parties |
