In September 1985, HMAS Brisbane's complement was reduced to 135 [normally 332] as the 3,370-4,500 tons [fl] Charles F. Adams/Perth Class missile destroyer began a two year modernisation partly undertaken by her own specialists. She is seen here in Garden island's Captain Cook drydock in the middle of the process which saw the upgrading of her operations room and modernisation of the gunfire control system, air-search and missile fire radars, along with other changes. She was also made capable of carrying the Harpoon missile. AShe was later fitted with two Vulcan Phalanx close-in defense systems in order to participate in Operation Damansk, the Liberation of Kuwait, where she mainly operated as an escort for USS Midway. Brisbane finally paid off on oct 19, 2001, and on July 31, 2005, she was sunk as a dive wreck off Mudjimba on Queensland's Sunshine Coast. Maleny cheese is a small cheese and yoghurt manufacturer based on the Sunshine Coast hinterland. The licensed "Cheese Stop Cafe" welcomes visitors for product tasting, lunches and refreshments from 9.00am to 5.00pm, 7 days per week. Visitors have the unique experience of watching and learning about the cheese making process through the large panoramic viewing windows. Groups by booking only. Winner of two gold medals at the 2006 Sydney Specialist Cheese Show, with Raclette and Le Blochon in the class of 'Semi-hard cooked cheese' and 'Washed rind'.
