Frequently Asked Questions

Thanks for your interest! Here are the questions that have come up so far. Email the organizers, if you have others, at chi2009_mobileuxworkshop_organizers AT googlegroups.com.

When is the deadline for submissions?
The deadline has been extended to Oct. 31, 2008, from the original deadline of Oct. 23. We wanted to give you more time for the submission. We've intentionally made the requirements quick & straight-forward. Check out the Call for participation for more details.

Are you interested in both formative and summative methods and tools for mobile UX research, or just those for usability evaluation?
Yes, we're interested in both. We encourage submissions that describe methods and tools for formative / strategic research efforts, and/or those for evaluative / summative methods, e.g. testing usability.  We're also interested to cover both early-stage and late-stage efforts.

What are the length requirements for the submission?
Your submission could be between 2-5 pages (in CHI Extended Abstracts format), depending on the kind of submission you'd like to have. It could either be quick and light, could optionally include more supplemental info, or could be a more formal proposal. It's up to you -- we want to make it work for those in academia as well as those in industry. Check out the Call for participation for more details.

What will the workshop be like? What will actually happen?
We have posted a draft agenda for the workshop, as we originally envisioned it. We are looking for input from you to help steer the direction; our list of what "all submissions should include" in the CFP asks you to note any other areas you’d like to see covered, within your submission. We want this workshop to suit the interests and needs of the participants.

Who are the organizers?
We've posted the organizers' background info, and will soon update with info from the Program Committee as well.
