Tripod Parabola Solar Cooker This is a tripod parabolic cooker I made from an old Direct TV dish. I used an emergency blanket for the reflective film, diluted school glue for the adhesive. It works just fine, enough power but not too much. A little pully system allows me to move the grill up and down to match the focal point. I can leave the dish on the ground for most of the midday, needing to prop it only in the early morning or late afternoon. This design is based on pictures that others posted to Flickr and YouTube. For most cooking purposes, I have found the the Solar Cookers are ideal. You don't have to move them all the time, and they get plenty hot - up to 325°F! Solar workshop
