About Us

The ChesTech Community Labs seek to:
            • provide access to computers
            • teach people how to use computers
within the Chester Housing Authority (CHA).

This project is a joint collaboration between Swarthmore College and the CHA Neighborhood Networks Project. The initial idea was developed as service-based learning project for the "Socially Responsible Computing" seminar at Swarthmore in the Fall of 2009.

Our goals are to:
  • Build computer labs at each of the CHA Developments (Bennett, Chatham, William Penn)
  • Provide Chester middle and high School students with an opportunity to work with Swarthmore Students on fun and interesting computer-oriented projects
  • Work with adult learners to develop useful jobs skills
  • Make the labs open and available to all!
