Welcome to chess
madness!
On this site will be a lot of cool things about chess. Question
of the Week: In 2010, this is where the US Scholastic chess tournament was held. A) Dallas
B) Florida
C) Nebraska
D) Pittsburg
Answer
will be shown tomorrow.
Yesterday's answer was C. En Passant: An En Passant is when one of the players moves his pawn off the starting position two spaces up next to another pawn and if he does that then his opponent can move the pawn behind the other pawn and capture it. (This must be done the very move after the pawn moves up.)
Castling: To castle kingside you have to touch the king, move it over two spaces and put it down, then touch the rook and move it over two spaces. To castle queenside touch the king, move it over two spaces, then touch the rook and move it over three spaces. Your king will have better protection if you castle. TIP
OF THE WEEK: Make sure when
you set up a chess board to have a
white square on the bottom
right corner and to have the white player have the square a1.
