Anil Kumar was born in Bihar, India. He received his MSc in Organic Chemistry from University of Delhi, India in 2002, and PhD in 2009 from Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Mumbai, India under the supervision of Prof. Susheel Durani. Presently, he is working as a postdoctoral fellow in the group of Prof. G. Andrew Woolley at the Department of Chemistry, University of Toronto, Canada

As a postdoctoral Fellow at Department of Chemistry, University of Toronto, my interest broadly lies in re-engineering of photoswitchable protein by modifying the backbone so that insertion of bioactive peptides can be done and have an opportunity to understand the photoswitchable proteins as powerful tools for external manipulation and probing of complex biochemical processes.

I am using experimental, computational and theoretical approaches to pursue my queries.
