The sign above says it all!!! On Friday Morning, May 8, 2009, we woke up to cloudy skies.
Rachel left for work at 7am and it was up to me to get Natalie to the babysitters house, so that
I could make it to work by 8am. At 7:15 we left the house stepped off the porch and down came the
rain and hail. Between 7:15 & 8:30 we received a major thunderstorm and what they call Straight line Winds.
Straight line winds are similar to tornadoes, only that they go in a straight line with winds between
75 - 80 mph winds which causes lots of damage. Later in the day the pictures you see below are
the aftermath of the storm. Most of the general area had no electtricity for 2-4 days. Power lines were down
as well as cable tv lines.
There may not be captions under each picture, because there are so many
pictures on this page. So, lets begin.
This is the back of our trailer. We have a lean to on the back and it just about
got ripped off of the trailer. It was wobbly to begin with, but not this wobbly.
My flag pole was broken off of the post.
Patio table umbrella was pulled out of the base of the table and blown across
the table to the front yard.
Our new shed that we recently got was shifted off of the base it sat on.
At the end of the day it got cold in the evening. We wapped up in blankets and jackets
to keep warm. We had no power, so we sat in the dark in the evnein g time.
We were without power until Sunday evening.
This is my Mother's garage, and the 2 below this one. A neighbors tree
was uprooted and landed on her garage.
This is a neighbors house by Mom's
Look closely and you will see a billboard on top of the nice shiny truck.
We mowed this lady's house and this is what her trailer looked like after the strom.
United Way sign was smashed
Our local Babes, which is a hamburger joint, lost their sign.
This root pulled up the entire back yard.
If you saw blue plastic on a roof it meant that the roof was torn apart and in need of repairs
If you look close you will see a metal carport smashed
Cars all across the area were totaled.
This electrical pole was leaning against a consession stand at the local
baseball park.
Electic poles were down everywhere. This one was supported by a sign.
Here is another one leaning.
This was the old sonic. They just built a new one.
Neighbors tree uprooted.
A pile of metal at this house.
Clean up began right away and branches brought to the curb
Cindy sitting on a large tree in the cemetary.
Rachel posed by the root of the tree that I was sitting under.
This is the hole that the tree left in the ground.
Trees even lifted up the curbing and road.
I liked this picture. If you really look at the sticks are in the form of a cross
Beuatiful flowers not even touched.
This branched landed right between two bouquets of flowers and did not harm them.
Amazing!!!!!
There weren't any tombstones broken either.
this tree just split in two. The inside of the tree.
