Yard to Plymouth MI
Portland IN to Arlington
then back to base
that is the simple tale.
the more complex tale is that the gave me a new truck this week - #9121 a Freightliner Cascadia. i got it with only 12.5 miles on the clock.
1615 miles into the week (in Indiana) a warning light came on on the dash. one of the numerous sensors in the engine had gone wrong.
so i limped to springfield Mo to get it fixed.
that just aggrivated my week.
see i delivered early monday morning, but the freight is slow so there was no reload - all day Monday i sat waiting for a load. 5pm Monday i get a beep to go to Portland.
so 200 miles and i get there for the night (through snow and ice). but next morning the ice in the trailer from the frozen product of the day before meant that they could not load the floor load today.
so i had to defrost the trailer.
that took a sum total of 7 hours to get the load on.
so late in the day i get to Muncie and the light comes on (5pm - just as everyone is about to go home!)
i drive to springfield and get to the shop as they open 7am.
they let me go sleep in the driver's lounge.
yet i find that the part they need is not available, and will be coming overnight to arrive next day.
D&D don't like this idea so take the part out of one of their trucks unallocated on the yard and send it to springfield.
they release me at 5pm.
now i have to get to Arlington for 2.30 am
i just make it, and then take my 10 hours rest (till now)
but there is no reload for me. so i am sitting another day.
the third this week. i am running out of things to occupy myself with.
meggy does not mind, she just sleeps.
then every two hours or so we go out to play and poop.
i have set up a webcam on the dash, you may have noticed.
my present to myself for Christmas is a 3g Mobile Broadband internet modem.
it allows me 5Gb of traffic a month, which is 120Mb a day, and that is enough to upload images of my travels to the web at one picture every ten minutes.
the scenery does not change that rapidly anyhow.
also the software (YAWCAM) allows me to make a movie too.
so as soon as i can find a USB canle to link the computer to the camera and the modem i will be up and running with that one.
i gotta have my toys or i get bored.
since i am here. the qualcomm still has not bleeped.
how are y'all?
i am doing ok.
a little flat emotionally, but that is to be expected. they tell me to expect anhedonia. they did not tell me how unexciting it was.
better than the down moods though.
meggy brightens my day, as does the frequent conversations with my favorite girlfriend, you may know her, the Lady Cnithia, just don't tell the wife!!
somehow the philosophy and theology that used to fascinate me has gone away. somewhere in college i had all the burning questions answered. and now...
is it me or just my condition.
maybe the drugs do it to me.
who can tell.
i once was a truck driver, then i became a student, then i graduated and now i am a truck driver again.
funny thing life.
at least i am working.
ok. this general ramble will end right now.
you can tell i am bored.
i think i will sleep some more.
feel free to email me anytime.
and for those that don't know we were getting so many harassing phonecalls that we cancelled our home phone. the only way to reach us is on our cellphones or by email now.
ok.
off we go into the wild blue yonder
The End to the tale.
I got a bleep around 2pm. Load Stephensville tx tomorrow for Carthage, then reload Monett MO for Toledo OH on Tuesday.
so i get to go home for a while at least!
