I asked for 2 days off work - saturday and sunday. but the demands of the freight got me home thursday night.... then Monday was Labor day - some kind of holiday honoring pregnancy?
anyway the preplan the company gave me indicated an unload of 2pm wednesday in Chicago, but i never did get the actual dispatch which would give me the full load plan.
Monday morning i drove to the yard to check. it was a good thing i did. I was planning to leave tuesday morning to make that delivery, and it turned out i had a first drop 5AM tuesday in Indiana.
| So i had to upset all the plans that had been made to visit the Vest's that evening, and high tail it for Indiana - 9 hours drive from home.
i made my delivery ontime, and then had only 250 miles to drive tuesday.
at this time i sit at a truckstop in Gary Indiana, waiting for 5.30AM, my departure time for my next drop in the morning.
the preplan has me load Chicago back for Carthage tomorrow. round trip of 1300 miles.
since the cut off date for getting trips paperwork in is thursday (by Mail) or Monday (In person) it looks like next weeks pay will be only 1300 miles. that will cause some problems in the bill paying part. our usual check has been on 3000 miles which returns some $800.
Driver who get low mileage is often grumpy driver.
I am grumpy driver right now, cos also things changing at company. change makes driver uncomfortable. why they must change a good thing? change my fleet manager, so must train new one to my preferences. |
