I am standing against my kitchen sink looking at the sliding door for the bathroom. There is no central heat in my house. Each room has a small kerosene heater in it to heat that area. Except for the kitchen. And the bathroom. Taking a bath in the winter is an ordeal, but I've got it down to a science. I throw a load of towels into the dryer about 70 mintues before I want to shower. I turn on the portable halogen heater and let that run. 10 minutes before shower time, I turn on the water at the hottest setting, so the bathing area gets steam heat. I then shower and use the hot towels from the dryer to dry off. It requires a lot of forethought. It's much easer and more pleasant in the summer.

I love this thing and I hate it. It is the only thing that really warms up the rooms here, but is is so horrible to be breathing kerosene all the time. It has a built in alarm so that you remember to air out the toxic carbon monoxide fumes every hour and a half. Of course, nobody does this except Mr. P and I.
