Day 28 (October 8th): Reunited and it feels so good... *cue Peaches and Herb* This is my best lady-friend/former-roomie/hetero-lifemate from Montreal, Litia! She's beautiful and she's the raddest lady around. We both finagled free long-distance plans out of Fido when I decided I had to move back to BC, so we can talk everyday. She's in Vancouver for a visit and we spent the day wandering around downtown, enjoying a lovely lunch at Earl's (including 2 buckets of Budweiser bottles!) and then wandering off to go see "Across The Universe" (which I had already seen, but it was good and she hadn't seen it yet). We met when we worked in the same bar in Montreal back in 2003. We started asking the obligatory "So where are you from? How long have you been here? Blahblahblah..." questions when we were astounded to discover we went to the same primary school at the same time (although I'm two years older) and spent a lot of our adolescence in the same places. Thus, we decided immediately to move in together! Best decision ever. Although we're very fundamentally pretty different, she is one of the few girls who really gets me. Our sense of humor is pretty ridiculous in the most mutually complimentary way. We talk all the time and she knows when to be supportive and when to give me a verbal kick in the pants. Great memories include: - My "traffic efficiency clause" nearly getting us run over on numerous occasions. - Her bringing a box of Apple Cinnamon Cheerios to the bar after I had been through a really long day at work (I maintain to this day that this is the best bar snack EVER). - Meeting up and wandering around the Plateau numerous times in our pyjamas on Saturday mornings for brunch. - Going to see "Wedding Crashers" in the cinema and literally falling out of our seats laughing from our own private commentary. - Deciding to name our future children after the french names for lunch meats (my son, Dinde, and her daughter, Jambon, were to eventually fall in love and get married). - Her getting the infamous Zach Braff photo when we saw him at the Killers show. - Various entirely inappropriate, but ultimately hilarious conversations while waiting for the Metro. - Watching Vancouver defeat Montreal in hockey and then running from rowdy Habs fans. - Meeting our male counterparts, Peter and Richie, and firing off the banter over all-you-can-eat sushi. I had purchased some fleece with a sushi print to make pajama pants for my sister. When Coco came along I used a remnant to make a little blanket for her. She still has it now, 2.5 years later.
