Teaching

My philosophy of teaching centers around engagement and application: engaging students of diverse backgrounds to think critically and actively about the ideas they encounter throughout their lives and encouraging them to apply the ideas they develop in a university setting to their broader experience.  I believe in challenging students with new and competing ideas, then asking them to connect those ideas to their particular experiences and encounters.  I have had a broad range of teaching experiences, and this background has fostered my sensitivity to the needs of diverse audiences.
