Welcome to my home
page. I am an assistant professor in the Department of Government at Hamilton College. I received my PhD from the
Department of Political Science at Stanford University in 2010. I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of California at Berkeley in two majors, Asian Studies and Political Economy. My current research
focuses on the organization of political authority in single party regimes,
particularly the processes of party adaptation and the relationship between party and bureaucracy in contemporary China.
My research and teaching
interests include the politics of non-democracies, public bureaucracies, Chinese politics,
regime consolidation and breakdown, the post-transition experiences of
Eastern European countries, and field research methods.
