Welcome to my home page.  I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Political Science at Stanford University, and my subfield concentrations are comparative politics and international relations.  My research focuses on the organization of political authority in single party regimes, particularly the processes of party adaptation and the relationship between party and bureaucracy in contemporary China.

I am currently writing my dissertation, titled “Strategies of Political Control and Party Adaptation in Reform-Era China”.

My research and teaching interests include the politics of non-democracies, public bureaucracies, Chinese politics, regime consolidation and breakdown, the post-transition experiences of Eastern European countries, and field research methods.
