Warmest Regards, Brandon I believe there are people in life that leave a significant positive imprint on each of us. Their choices shape what decisions we make and what values we hold dear. In part we hope to become like them. They are the cornerstones of our own humanity, that strength which holds us together. I believe there are moments in life that lead us on a positive path. These moments shape the decisions we make and the values we hold true. They influence who we are and what we hope to become. Moments like these are the milestones in time, the checkpoints on life’s journey where we all stop to take stock and carry on; losing a job; a Saturday morning breakfast with your family; a wedding or the birth of a child; the loss of a hero. These are the moments that matter to each of us; the real things in life that are always remembered not because of the vivid mental picture but because our behavior and inherent being is shaped and molded from these particular moments and people in time. They become part of what we are. Today is one of those moments and Terry was one of those people. He has become part of what we are and as such will forever live in each of us. His life and his death will guide us each in our own positive way. I am truly sorry for the loss and pain we feel with Terry’s passing but I’m comforted to know he is grateful for the life he was afforded. In life’s terms I have spent less than a handful of days with Terry. However his influence on me will last my lifetime and ultimately that of my family. I knew him as a caretaker of his friends and family, a steward of his land, and a guardian of his country. His sacrifices for his family and his country will define him to me always and it was my honor to know him. He will be forever loved, he will be forever remembered, he will be forever missed. Hi, We went to the hospital to have Terry get the procedure done, but
after a blood test, they found his bellyrubin was too high. It
could not be over 2 and his was 2.9. It was 1.3 when we made the appointment. It
would have killed him if he had it done. So they just drained him and sent
us home. He is still taking the Nexivar that stops tumor growth. We are
hopping it will lower his bellyrubin. On the 6th of Ageist he goes back to
the oncologist. They will test his blood and see how this new drug is doing.
Other than that he has hi as up and down days. I just wish I could get him to
eat more. He drinks ensure a lot, but that is not going to do the trick. Keep
him in your thoughts.
Shirley Hi,
Terry is going to the hospital to have a procedure that will have a
scope go up a vain in his leg and find the large tumor in one side of his liver.
They will then eject kemo and poppy seed oil into where the blood vessel goes
into his tumor. The poppy seed oil makes it stick. He will stay in the hospital
for a few days. When that side of his liver heals, they will then do the other
side. He will also take pills called Nexevar 4 a day, They are suppose to
stop the growth of the smaller tumors. It won't cure him, but it keep him going
for, hopefully, for a lot longer. I'll let you know how it goes. He still is in
good spirits and that's all the guys for
caring. Sincerely,
Shirley 6-28-2009First I want to give my deepest sympathy to the Family of Rom Hayworth. His wife and I went to Graceland together and I got to know her some. They were all good passingers as I drove them. No sreaming from the back seat. Terry is doing ok. He layes on the couch most of the time, but has gotten up for guest. His Son and Family and sister and her husband were here this week. He has not started any treatment as yet but has had lots of tests. He might take this expensive pills that will slow down the tumers. He takes water pills that keeps him from looking too pregnant. He really likes the cards and e-mails. It perks him up. Other than that nothing has changed much. I try to be a good nurse. Shirley Dickison 6-7-2008 Tree & Dan, I got this message from Shirley Dickison, Terry's wife. This breaks my heart, as Terry (an FO team recon Sgt. in 'Nam) has a heart of GOLD. If you remember, he wants to donate his multiple acres river property in Idaho to C-2/5th as part of his will. Tree, you would be able to get this message out to all the brothers of C & E Companies better than I. Know that I have Terry & Shirley both in my thoughts and prayers.
