This program has been started with the generosity of a C 2/5 Brother. One of the most valuable lessons I learned at the last reunion is that we, who served in C 2/5, have truly become a family. From the experiences we went through together so many years ago in Vietnam to the life-changing experiences we had in Memphis/Marked Tree, we have drawn closer together. In an effort to build on this family relationship, we want to set up a system whereby we can reach out to our brothers who are in need. We have had several of our brothers who have suffered serious illnesses and some who have passed away. In the past, we have tried to insure that cards, and/or flowers are sent in these situations. It is our desire to formalize this system to insure that no one is missed. John McCorkle has volunteered to set up the system for us. TREE From John McCorkle: We will design appropriate “Get Well” and “Sympathy” cards which will be sent to our brothers going through these situations. We will also send flowers for funeral services for our brothers or their spouses who have passed away. Also, just because we are doing this as a unit, do not think that a card and/or flowers from each of you would not be appreciated. One of our brothers who wishes to remain anonymous has donated $300.00 to set up this program. These funds are to be considered seed money. In order to keep the program moving into the future we will be depending on donations from the men of C 2/5. As always a P&L statement is available for your review at your request. The biggest problem with this kind of program is communication. We cannot emphasize enough, the importance of letting us know when someone is in trouble. If you or any brother you know of is going through such a situation, contact John McCorkle. His contact information is below. Also, if anyone wants to make a donation to this fund, contact James TREE Machin Burgertogo@msn.com |
