Character cakes are NOT made with a shaped pan. I make a stencil the appropriate size in photoshop and illustrator and then print it. I use this to cut the shape of the cake. Thus, unlike a pan cake, the tops of the cakes are flat and the sides perpendicular to the surface and most important of all I can produce any picture I like!

The layer of butter cream looks terribly thick but in fact there is very little icing on the top of the cake. The sides are a different matter. The cakes can be made in multiple or single layers. Of course single layers reduce the sweetness of the cake. American style icing can also be done.

Ladybug Cake

Serves aprox. 24 - Moist, layered sponge cake with homemade strawberry jam filling. Covered with strawberry flavoured butter cream under marshmellow fondant.

             

Dora the Explorer Cake

Serves 40-50 - Made with chocolate chiffon cake with belgian chocolate butter cream filling. Surface is vanilla butter cream. This was made for Deruni's second birthday.

Superman Cake

Serves 50-60 - Made with chocolate madiera cake with Belgian chocolate butter cream filling. Surface is vanilla butter cream. This was made for Denali's Superman friends fourth birthday.

Pooh with birthday cake

Serves 40-50 - Made with a chocolate madiera cake with Belgian chocolate butter cream filling. Surface is vanilla butter cream and the candles are marshmallow fondant. I took out the shading from the original and used turquoise frosting for the cake as it was for a little boy.

Monkey face cake

Serves 40-50 - Made with an intense chocolate chiffon cake and decorated with white, milk, and dark belgian chocolate ganache. Keep refrigerated else the cream in the ganache won't keep.

Serves 40-50 - Vanilla flavored Madiera cake with a chocolate butter icing filling and vanilla butter icing details.
