- Math: We will begin this quarter with Unit 5, using addition and subtraction. This unit will include estimating by rounding, comparing numbers using place value and number sense, working with money amounts, and multi-step addition and subtraction word problems. Unit 6 is a mini-unit on geometric patterns. We will explore how patterns repeat, grow, and shrink. We will begin Unit 7 (multiplication) this quarter!
- Reading: Our focus this quarter will be non-fiction! The students will practice strategies that good readers use before, during, and after reading. Before reading strategies include activating prior knowledge and making predictions. During reading strategies include making connections, asking questions, and making predictions. After reading strategies include making inferences and identifying cause and effect relationships.
- Writing: The students will continue to learn and use the writing process as we plan, draft, revise, edit, and publish friendly letters, learning logs, and instructions/directions.
- Science: The students will explore the Human Body this quarter! We will study the skeletal system, joints, and muscular system! A scientist from Hightouch, Hightech will kick off this unit with a fun hands-on field trip!
- Social Studies: Ms. Day has a geography unit planned for this quarter!
