Champaign County Chapter

The Champaign County Chapter, founded in 1924, has focused on conservation issues for east central Illinois; issues ranging from a campaign leading to the creation of the Champaign County Forest Preserve District in 1948 to recent activities such as road and river clean-ups and the assembly of fish habitats from recycled PVC pipe.  In 1964, the Chapter constructed a cabin at Lake-of-the-Woods Park, which was donated to the Forest District.  Monthly meetings are held at the cabin or at the Anita Purves Nature Center in Urbana.
