Who

Who is this guy?

Well, If you came here, you obviously want to know more about me. My name is Chris and ... well, its just easier to list it.

  • I will be getting married to my beautiful Fiance Michelle on July 8th. We have been dating since September 19th of 2001. I proposed on her birthday while I had a cold and was suffering from the effects of too much garlic. Can you believe she still said yes.

  • I have a cat named Turbo. I picked her up from the barn Michelle rides at. She was a stray living out of a horse trailer. When I took her home, she had been hit by a car we think. So she had a broken hip and a dead tail. As a result of the broken hip, I had to milk her bladder every couple of hours. The milking was required to make sure she didn't loose her ability to control her bladder once she got better. In addition to that, she recently has had a problem when going to the bathroom. Apparently her colon muscles where giving out and couldn't pass her waste. As a result, she would become backed up and have to go and get kitty enemas (they almost sound cute). Well after a couple of months of this, I finally decided it was time to fix this and her colon was removed. Cats are pretty amazing in that they are able to function without a colon. Apparently their intestines step up and take the place of the colon. Humans and dogs just can't function without one. Now that the surgery is over, she is starting to get back to her old self and looks forward to many years of sleeping, eating and getting petted.

  • Currently, I was just accepted to UC Davis for the fall quarter of 2006. My intended major is a double major of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering. I think I might have an emphasis on thermodynamics and turbine engines, but I am still figuring it out. I transferred to UC Davis from Sierra College in Rocklin CA. I had to attend a JC because I didn't prepare for college in High School, so I started all the way at the bottom. I enrolled in the lowest level English class they had and one math course above their lowest. I started in January of 2001 and completed some of the most advanced classes Sierra had to offer by the time I transfered (if you take circuits with Professor Harris, be prepared to work your butt off, but he's a great teacher). While that is probably not a big deal to most of you, to me it is. I was going to be a diesel technician after high school. I had a change of heart and started down the engineering path. For me personally, I didn't think I would make it this far. Oh, as a side note, I can't write. So this whole web site is going to read weird and be full of grammar errors... get used to it. But I can write one heck of a technical paper! Perhaps I will post some of them latter.

  • As far as hobbies go, I like to do stuff in the outdoors. I really love climbing ( I better have with the amount of gear I have) and enjoy backpacking. I have recently tried white water rafting and mountain biking and find those fun as well. It just to bad that those activities are way expensive. I also enjoy working on cars. I currently own a 1998 S-10 and a 1976 K-10... yep I am a Chevy guy. And to round me out, I also play guitar, bass and drums. I used to play trumpet a lot, but have not been practicing it. The ability to play trumpet earned me a part in a ska band called Fat Kids On Mopeds... guess who the fat kid was. We played a bunch of shows and had a good thing going, then everyone graduated and went their separate ways.

  • Jobs, I have had couple. My first job was working for Granite Arch Climbing Center in Rancho Cordova. I started at the bottom and worked my up to manager. It was a great first job, but not a good career. Besides, once my buddies Vaughn, Roy, Phil, Nick left and Patrick left, the place lost its luster. Then while attending UTI in Arizona, I worked at another climbing gym Called Climbmax. I also had a job at REI for a while. I just couldn't do the corporate thing... but the pro-deals where awesome! After the outdoor rec scene, I actually got an internship at an engineering firm called Taylor Systems Engineering. They designed HVAC for all sorts of projects. A great company and a great learning experience. After that I got a position at Teledyne (like the water pick) where I am currently working. This specific devision of Teledyne works on TWT 's or Traveling Wave Tubes, which are basically amplifiers that are used in all sorts of military and civilian products. The F-15... yeah, we got a tube in that thing. Once I am out of school, I think a job at General Electric or Black Diamond Equipment or Metolius Climbing Equipment would be pretty cool. But, will see where the wind blows.
