Nutrition: Milking and pregnant does receive alfalfa hay or alfalfa/grass hay and a custom grain mix each day. Chalab Ez also puts the does out to pasture or stake them out for fresh grass as much as possible (weather permitting.) We will not feed any type of soy products to our goats. And we will strive not to feed them corn products either. Vaccinations: Goats will be vaccinated for C/D and Tetanus as needed. Testing: All replacements, raised does or new stock will be tested for tuberculosis, Brucellosis and CAE before entering the milking herd. All milking goats have been tested for tuberculosis and brucellosis. Once negative (all are) they will then be tested every three years. If a goat in the herd is ever found positive then they will be removed from the herd. We have also tested for Johne’s, Q-Fever and Toxoplasmosis. Milk Testing:We have tested our milk each month since August of 2008 and plan to continue to test it. Share holders are welcome to the test results at any time. All of our test results have been negative on E-coli and Salmonella and well within limits on Coliforms and Standard Plate Count. |
