Illawarra Fly Treetop Walk
It is hard to believe but after a week of beautiful weather, Sunday was overcast and cloudy. In fact, the weather deteriorated so badly, that we got as far as Robertson when the fog closed in. We turned around and headed for home. I am not sure if any members actually made it to Knights Hill but I am sure all the views would have been obscured by the fog. What a shame, maybe we can try this outing once again - third time lucky! After a week of beautiful weather as we boarded the Paddlewheeler, the rain came down, but I think everyone enjoyed the Cruise, and although it was a little chilly, the food was excellent, the jazz band was really good and soon had everyone’s foot tapping.
There was a raffle on board, and I pleased to say, CHACA took away three of the five prizes – the lucky winners, were Peter, Bill and Judy. Here are a few pictures of the day – Observation Run
Robert & Rhonda sent the following note on the Observation Run –
We made our way to Werrington lakes to find Ian & Rosemary already there, Charles & Yvonne arrived, we waited till 10.30 and as no one else showed up, we decided to call the Observation Run off, and instead headed down to the park at the Rowing club where we had morning tea, and then later had lunch. We headed home around 3.30pm. I think everyone enjoyed themselves. Three club cars, a Simca, two Hillmans and one Modern. Thanks Robert & Rhonda Model Park Luddenham
The weather was just perfect and there was a good turnout of members. There was plenty to see and do, and everyone enjoyed the cars, planes and trains. Lunch was pleasant, some brought picnics and the barbeque was put to good use, everyone enjoyed the company.
Thank you Paul and Anne Campbell for organising a great day out.
Toy and Railway Museum - Leura
There was a good turnout of CHACA members and it was a perfect day for a run to the Mountains. The weather was bright and sunny, although a tad cool when you alighted from the car at Leura. Leuralla is one of the oldest Blue Mountains' heritage homes, built just prior to World War I. The collection of toys is amazing. It was a bit like walking down memory lane. There were dolls from past eras and it was interesting to see how the faces of the dolls had changed over time. Boys were not forgotten either, there was an amazing array of cars and vehicles of all description. Every room in the house was filled to capacity.
Upstairs Barbie reigned supreme. I think there must have been every Barbie ever produced, the collection is extensive. The home contains the largest Toy, Doll and Model Train collection in the Southern Hemisphere and spans the early 1900s to the current day - with emphasis on the period from 1910 to 1960. There is an extensive model railway set up and even a model of the Matterhorn complete with tunnels in the garden.
After browsing for a considerable time, some enjoyed a picnic in the park opposite, where the views were magnificent, while others adjourned to Leura for lunch.
Thank you Peter and Rose a great venue suggestion – we all had an enjoyable and interesting day.
What an enjoyable night. Twenty four CHACA members met at Merrylands Bowling Club to celebrate. The food was excellent. roy made a great speech and the company was excellent. A great night out! Thanks for the phots Rhonda. The 45th Annual Display Day at Eastern Ceek was held in perfect weather, with brilliant sunshine. There was a good turnout of CHACA members and what a great variety of cars we have. On display in the CHACA section were -
It is amazing to see so many enthusiasts. There were cars of every description, motor bikes, buses, fire engines, military vehicles, so much to see you really do need a good pair of legs to get round all of the displays.
It was good to meet up with members and chat over a picnic lunch.
