Welcome to AP Spanish!
The AP Spanish 4 and AP Spanish 5 course is intended for the highly motivated and capable students. The class will focus on both grammatical accuracy and communicative fluency. The students will continue to build proficiency in the areas of reading, writing, listening, and speaking through a variety of interactive and non-interactive activities such as: compositions, essays, oral presentation, debates, role plays, in-depth studies of Spanish and Latin American literature, history and geography and an intensive review of grammar structures. This course also exposes students to the culture of the language with the vision that students will learn to appreciate the language, understand its relevance in the world and develop skills that will enable them to become life long learners and producers of Spanish. The program also grants the students the opportunity to participate in the annual 15 day trip to Spain where they will visit the main cities and cultural attractions of Spain and experience a 6 day family stay with a Spanish family. They will be able to appreciate the similarities and differences between the target culture and the student’s own culture. Explicit AP Exam test skills instruction will also be included to support student ability on the AP Spanish Language and AP Spanish Literature exam. Class is conducted exclusively in Spanish.
