Last year Chad and Kelly went to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur for a missions trip/vacation. This year our entire family, along with Elizabeth Stamper, are going to Taiwan for a few days to visit some missionary families and to see the country. A special thank you to Jenni Ertl for all her help in coordinating and organizing so many of our travel details.

We started planning this trip about three months ago. One of the main reasons we decided on Taiwan was because of the missionaries we know: Mark Lehman, the Delaneys, the Wychopens, and Dolly Wong. (Ok, they also have the record for the tallest building in the world.) There were other things the Lord worked out with this trip that we weren't aware of in the beginning. We mentioned we were going to visit the Wychopens. Tad Wychopen was one of our campus kids while we were on staff at Northland.  At first we did not know that the Wychopens were there working with the youth. We are looking forward to visiting Tad and his wife, Hannah.

The Lord worked out the flights so we could use Frequent Flyer miles to make the trip, which helped us save several thousand dollars. There were others from the States that provided money for this trip as well.

To take advantage of the savings, we found out we needed to extend our trip. Northwest flies Guam to Osaka and Osaka to Taiwan. Once we found out that we would be staying an extra day in Osaka, Elizabeth told us about the Craig family, a missionary family in Nishinomiya Shi, near Osaka. The Craigs are good friends of Elizabeth's family.

What a blessing to see the Lord working through this trip already. We can't wait to see how he uses us once we are there.

Once in Taiwan, we will travel over most of the country to visit the many missionary families. Taipei is on the most northern part of the Island and the Delaney's are almost at the most southern part of the Island.

Current temperatures during the day is around 66 to 70 degrees which is about 20 to 25 degrees colder than what we are used to... brrrrrr!
